The UK Network of Open Research Working Groups (UK-ORWG) met for the first time at Aston University.

A network within the UKRN, the UK-ORWG brings together institutions across the UK to coordinate and to increase active engagement and participation with Open Research. With nearly 100 attendees representing over 25 organisations, the day comprised a series of talks and discussion groups covering open quantitative and qualitative research, as well as teaching and learning in open research practice.

A lighthearted game was also used to encourage people with different levels of Open Research expertise and from differing disciplines to identify one another, helping attendees to develop mentorship and training exchange.

All materials from the event are freely available, including a series of podcasts. Visit https://osf.io/xvhc8/ or search Twitter #UKORWG19 for the discussion. If you would like to join the UK-ORWG, or would like support in setting up a working group in your own institution, please contact Dr Charlotte Hartwright, UKRN National Network lead for Open Research Working Groups, c.hartwright@aston.ac.uk.

With thanks to the Guarantors of Brain and Aston University for funding this event.
