Open Research across Disciplines
How the principles of open research can be applied to your disciplineGuide to resources
The pages listed below provide, for each discipline, a list of open research case studies, examples of open research practices, and links to resources to support open research (open methods, data, outputs, etc). Each page also includes a link that can be used to suggest changes or additions.
These pages are adapted and extended from: Farran, E. K., Silverstein, P., Ameen, A. A., Misheva, I., & Gilmore, C. (2020, December 15). Open Research: Examples of good practice, and resources across disciplines (2025 edition). https://doi.org/10.31219/osf.io/3r8hb
Open research across disciplines
Although a lot of open research practices have commonly been discussed under the term “open science”, open research applies to all disciplines. If the concept of open research is new to you, it might be difficult for you to determine how you can apply open research practices to your research. The aim of this document is to provide resources and examples of open research practices that are relevant to your discipline.
This longer document (58 pages) lists case studies of open research per discipline, and resources per discipline (organised as: general, open methods, open data, open output and open education).
