by Emily Farran, UKRN Institutional Lead for the University of Surrey

The University of Surrey launched two Open Research Awards: the Open Research Case Study Award, and the Surrey Reproducibility Society Recognition Award. The Open Research Case Study Award was directly modelled on the competition run at the University of Reading (also modelled by the University of Groningen). The Surrey Reproducibility Society Recognition Award represents a partnership between the Surrey Reproducibility Society and F1000Research. Both awards are really good examples of universities and organisations sharing ideas and good practice.

We received a wide variety of very strong applications, and have shortlisted ten to present at the Surrey Open Research and Transparency Showcase online event, 1pm to 5pm, 4 March 2021. Shortlisted entries will also feature on the University of Surrey’s website as case studies, also modelling the University of Reading. Telling others what you are doing to open up knowledge, as well as how you are doing it and how you overcome challenges, will further raise understanding and awareness of Open Research and inspire others to follow your example. The Surrey Open Research and Transparency Showcase is free to all to attend. We look forward to sharing University of Surrey’s Open Research case studies with you. All welcome.
